# Request Work in the App

Use this guide to start a request in app.doc.holiday and check it in **Work History**.

### Request work from the app

1. In the left navigation, select **Create Work Request**.
2. In the **New Work Request** sheet, choose a **Publication** from **Select a publication**. The selector lists Publications where the signed-in account has write access.
3. In **Description** (placeholder: **Describe the work request...**), enter one sentence that explains the work request. See [Writing requests](/docs/prompting-guide/writing-requests.md) for examples.
4. Select **Submit Request**. The sheet also offers **Cancel** and **Close**.

By default, Doc Holiday stages the request for review before it opens anything against the repository.

### Follow progress

After submission, the toast titled **Work Request Created** says **Your work request has been submitted.** Select **View in Work History** to open [Work History](/docs/working-with-doc-holiday/work-history.md).

### Verify

The new entry appears in **Work History**.

### Next

Open the [Prompting guide](/docs/prompting-guide/prompting-guide.md) to get more out of your requests, and [Review and revise](/docs/working-with-doc-holiday/review-and-revise.md) for what happens after you submit one.
