# Connect Google Drive

Use this page when Google Drive needs to supply background material for Doc Holiday.

### What connecting Google Drive does

Connecting Google Drive adds a read-only Source that Doc Holiday can use while it writes. It does not start new work on its own.

### How to connect Google Drive

1. Open **Sources**, select **Add Source**, and choose **Google Drive**.
2. Enter a **Source Name**.
3. Before you upload the JSON, follow [Google Drive authentication instructions](/docs/sources/sources.md) to prepare the service account and complete the credentials steps.
4. Select **Upload** and choose the JSON file, or paste its contents into **Service Account JSON**.
5. Select **Save Changes**.

### Verify

Open **Sources** and confirm the Google Drive Source shows **Healthy**.
