# Audit Log

### Overview

Audit Logs provide a structured record of system activity. Each entry captures an event, the affected target, and associated metadata.

### Typical uses

* Review recent operational activity.
* Inspect the details for a specific log entry.
* Fulfill security and compliance reviews.

### Data contained in Audit Logs

Audit Log entries vary by event type. The UI presents a flat event list with a details panel for the selected entry that shows a complete explanation of the specific entry.

For example, an entry might say: “Judd Bear (<judd@thebear.com>) updated Publication "External Docs" and did not change any important fields, changing no fields or secrets.”
